Kidde Recalls Combination Ionization/Photo-Electric Smoke Alarms! (March 21, 2018):
Kidde has announced the recall of to models of smoke alarms (PI2010CA and PI9010CA).  A large number of these units left the factory with the protective yellow cover installed over one of the sensors.  For more information on what to look for, please visit their website at https://kidde-smoke-alarm-recallcaen.expertinquiry.com .  Kidde will replace any affected units you might have purchased free of charge (you’ll have to register on their website first).

Kidde Announces Major Recall Affecting Five Million Smoke / Carbon Monoxide Alarms!:
Kidde Canada Inc. has announced a major recall effort that affects all Kidde NightHawk talking combination smoke / carbon monoxide alarms.  The model number is KN-COSM-1B manufactured between June 1st, 2004 and March 2011!  For more information, please visit their website or download the Canadian Notice HERE!

Badger’s Industry Guard Alert! (November 3, 2014):
Kidde Canada Inc. announced a special consumer alert regarding the pressure relief plug installed on Industry Guard dry chemical cylinders that are normally pressurized to 360 PSIG.  Details of this alert are located in our library.  If you are an end-user, please ensure you increase the frequency of visual inspections as suggested in the bulletin!

Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm RECALL (September 11, 2014):
Kidde announces a recall of approximately 1.3 million smoke alarm/carbon monoxide alarms due to the possibility that they may not function in a power failure.  Please visit the Health Canada website for more information on this recall and what you can do.

Smoke Alarm RECALL (July 2009):
Kidde has announced a voluntary recall of their Model PI 2000CA dual sensor smoke alarms. Apparently an electro-static discharge can adversely affect the detector.  Affected units were manufactured between January 1, 2009 and May 4, 2009.  You can view all the details (and what you must do) here.

Fire Extinguisher RECALL (March 2009):
Affects Kidde XL Fire Extinguishers manufactured betwen October 2007 and April 2008 with model numbers FX210R and E-340-3. The extinguisher can lose pressure which could put the end-user at risk.  Consumers are urged to check the pressure gauge to ensure it is still in the "green" range.  They are also urged to contact Kidde Customer Support to verify that their extinguisher serial number does not fall within the range of this recall. Commercial Fire Extinguisher RECALL (July 2005):
Affects Kidde 10 lb. industrial dry chemical fire extinguishers with black plastic Zytel® nylon valves in steel cylinders manufactured between 1991 and 2000.  The nylon valves on these extinguishers can separate from the steel cylinder during the 6-year recharge service or shortly afterwards creating a safety hazard to fire extinguisher service personnel and consumers.  DO NOT SERVICE THESE EXTINGUISHERS!  More details concerning this recall and the replacement program can be found here.

Firex Smoke Alarm/Carbon Monoxide Detector RECALL:
Affects Maple Chase Company products that include Firex branded model 10000 and 12000 series smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  You may view additional information here.

Chemtronics 500 & 600 series Heat Detectors BULLETIN:
Kidde/Fenwal have issued a bulletin regarding the terminal strips located on the bottom of the affected detectors.  Apparently some units were manufactured with "out of tolerance" rivets which may cause the entire terminal assembly to separate from the body of the detector.  On supervised fire alarm circuits this would NOT cause a "trouble" signal as the terminal strip still provides a positive connection, however, the unit will fail to register an alarm condition.  You can view additional information (including the corrective action you must take) here.
